Put on your best hat and join the Friends of the Brentwood Library for an inspiring afternoon featuring three extraordinary Bay Area authors whose voices are shaping contemporary literature, culture, and conversation. We are thrilled to present Alka Joshi Meg Donohue and Audrey Lee.

The event will take place at Club Los Meganos, 1700 Trilogy Parkway, Brentwood, and will include a variety of delicious desserts. There will also be a no-host bar. Book sales will be available. Tickets are $45.

Funds will be used to support children’s reading programs, activities for children, programs for handicapped adults, adult craft classes, and many other activities.

Here’s more information on the authors: Alka Joshi is the internationally known bestselling author of the Jaipur Trilogy, which has been translated into 29 languages. Her debut novel, the Henna Artist, was a New York Times bestseller. Meg Donohue is a USA Today’s best-selling author. Audrey Lee  is a bestselling debut author.

City Recognition

The City of Brentwood recognizes The Friends of the Library for its support of the Library

Mayor Susanna Meyer presented a proclamation from the city to the Friends of the Brentwood Library at a recent city council meeting to recognize the group’s fundraising and advocacy that “strengthen the library’s ability to serve the community.” The award was made to mark National Friends of the Library Week.

The Second Story Book Shop received a Bronze Medal in the Resale Shop category in the Best of Brentwood issue of the Press. The Brentwood Library received Gold Medal recognition as the Best Government Spending and a Silver Medal in Best Places to Show a Visitor categories. Thanks to our supporters who voted for these recognitions.

A Successful Holiday Pop-Up Sale

The November 9th Holiday Pop Up book sale brought a large crowd to the second floor of the library. The purchases help provide funds for programs and other expenditures at the library. Many thanks to the people who attended the sale and took advantage of the bargains.

Supporting local adults with disabilities.

The Friends of the Brentwood Library supports Insiders, a program for adults with learning disabilities. 

The Friends provide funds to support Insiders, a program that provides weekly crafts, hobbies, and DIY activities for adults with disabilities.  The programs offer people with intellectual and developmental disabilities the opportunity to build confidence while navigating the library and accessing library services and resources.
